PADI OWSI (Open Water Scuba Instructor)
This program introduces the candidate to the entire PADI System and focuses on
further developing abilities as a professional dive educator. Completion of
thirteen curriculum presentations and three workshops are required in addition
to successful presentation of two confined water teaching presentations, two
knowledge development presentations, and one open water teaching presentation
integrating two skills. Successful completion of this program earns the
candidate the right to attend a PADI Instructor Examination (IE) and be tested.
Successfully passing the IE certifies the student as a PADI Open Water Scuba
Instructor.
The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor rating sets you apart from the crowd.
PADI Instructors may conduct the entire range of PADI programs - from Discover
Scuba through Divemaster.
What do I need to start?
- PADI Assistant Instructor certification or be an instructor in good
standing with another training organization for at least six months (check
with a PADI Course Director or PADI Office for qualifying credentials.)
- Hold a dive certification for at least six months
- Have 60 logged dives that include night, deep and navigation dives
- Proof of CPR and First Aid training within the last 24 months Medical
clearance signed by a physician
- Have at least 100 logged dives prior to entering a PADI Instructor Exam
